Millennium
Princess Barbie is a
1999 Limited Edition, and she is packaged in a Special Millennium Edition
to celebrate the Year 2000. This doll is the "ethnic" African-American
version (not the blonde Caucasian doll). Mattel issued the Millennium Princess
line as the special holiday dolls for collectors in 1999, since the Happy
Holidays Barbie series was concluded with the 1998 doll. We also
offer Millennium Princess Teresa (see below). Millennium Princess Barbie wears a dramatic midnight-blue velvet gown. The center panel of the gown's skirt is made of white satin behind flowery lace, sprinkled with silver glitter and edged with glittery silver filigree trim (see the bottom photo). The bodice and waist of the gown are accented with the same glittery silver filigree trim, and the dress has a sheer shawl collar around Barbie's neck and shoulders. Barbie has a lovely face, with brown eyes and red lipstick on her closed mouth. She wears a beautiful silver tiara atop her long dark hair, and she wears a matching silver necklace around her neck. She also wears silver earrings and a silver ring on her right hand. Her left hand is outstretched to hold the string of the special Millennium Keepsake faux-crystal ball, which is adorned with a glittery silver ribbon bearing the words "HAPPY NEW YEAR 2000" in blue ink (see the closeup photo of the Millennium Keepsake ball). The back of the box says "Barbie looks dazzling as she celebrates the new millennium in grand style! She holds a beautiful keepsake of the year 2000 -- a remembrance of this historic moment in time! Happy New Millennium, Love, Barbie" Barbie also comes with a doll display stand, and a hairbrush. Millennium Princess Barbie is in mint condition, and has never been removed from her fair condition box. |

The pin shows an image of the first Barbie in her famous black-and-white swimsuit, as well as the Olympic logo. This pin was officially authorized by the Sydney Organizing Committee, and was exclusively developed to be included with this package. A Certificate of Authenticity is also included with this doll. The first release of Olympic Pin Collector dolls had a spelling error on the back of the box, where the word "Sydney" was misspelled as "Sidney" in one place. After the error was found, all subsequent boxes were released with a large sticker correcting the paragraph with the spelling error (see the sticker in the bottom picture on the left). We offer these dolls in the Corrected Box. |
