Rose Barbie is the first doll in the "A Garden of Flowers" collection, and she is a gorgeous doll that is a worthy tribute to the most beautiful of flowers, the rose.  The rose is the most popular flower in the world, and is sometimes called the "queen of flowers".  To commemorate Barbie's 40th Anniversary, a special pink miniature rose plant named "The Barbie Rose" was developed by the rose breeder company Jackson & Perkins.  The Barbie miniature rose bush is pictured on the back of the box in all its splendor, and it also provides a lovely pictoral "trellis" backdrop for Rose Barbie on the inside of her box.

Rose Barbie wears a lovely rose-colored gown.  The fitted bodice is made of pink satin panels with a white lace insert, and she wears a green satin ribbon sash around her waist.  The full skirt of her gown is made of a pretty fabric with a pink and white rose print, overlaid with a sheer white lace overskirt that shows large lace roses around the bottom of the skirt.  The dress is accented with dramatic pink rose clusters on each shoulder, and she holds a matching single pink rose which is tied with pink and green satin ribbons in her right hand.  Barbie has green eyes, and she has dark-rose lipstick on her closed mouth.  Her lovely long straight strawberry-blonde hair is pulled back from her face with a pretty faux-pearl and satin braided ribbon headband, ending in large curls around her waist.  She wears a triple-strand faux-pearl choker accented with a pink rose around her neck, faux-pearl drop earrings, and a faux-pearl ring on her right hand.  

Rose Barbie is in a special box that has both English and French text.  She is in mint condition, and has never been removed from her mint-condition box.

The back of the box has a charming fairy tale that describes this lovely Barbie and explains why she is dressed in her exquisite dress and riding upon her white horse.  Here is Barbie's romantic fairy tale from the back of the box:  "Once in a faraway land, there lived the most beautiful young girl.  She grew up happy and carefree in the countryside, running barefoot through meadows and wading in crystal streams, often daydreaming of meeting her true love.  Then one day, a king's messenger suddenly appeared at her cottage with two amazing gifts.  One was a dashing white horse and the other, a special package of clothing for the girl.  The king wanted her to appear at his court.  

She put on the outfit sent by the king and startled herself when she looked in the mirror.  She could have been mistaken for royalty!  The gown was fitted and slim, in a rich, velvety fabric patterned with silver swirls.  The off-the-shoulder neckline and cuffs were trimmed with exquisite white faux fur.  Most luxurious of all was the purple hooded cape, lined with gleaming silver, that draped dramatically to the floor.  Even the horse, with a blonde mane matching her own golden hair, seemed to have been created just for her.

These gifts had been sent by someone who knew her well.  Could it be the young man she'd dreamed of so often?  Following the messenger, she slowly rode off on the noble horse, thinking of the new life that awaited her."

Just a few added notes to complete Barbie's description --  Barbie's eyes are blue, and she wears pink lipstick on her open mouth.  Her accessories include silver earrings, a matching purse, black old-fashioned lace-up shoes, and a brush.  Barbie's beautiful horse wears a purple saddle, and she has 2 purple and white sparkling snowflake barrettes decorating her white mane.   

Barbie and her horse are in mint condition, and have never been removed from their excellent condition box.  The boxes have a tiny bit of wear, which does not detract from the beauty of this gift set.  What a special set for every romantic person who still believes that fairy tales do come true!

Barbie is wearing a  dramatic off-white satin gown with numerous details completing her transformation into a stylishly exotic swan.  Her fitted bodice features has an organza bustline, with delicate beading along the neckline and shoulder straps.  Her full satin skirt flares out and up from the fitted waist in large luxurious folds and twists of white satin.  The white satin skirt is underlaid by multiple layers of white glittering tulle, giving extra "pouf" to the full skirt.  The skirt is embellished in the front with black and white feathers, and the feathers are repeated in a gorgeous tiara headpiece decorated with glittering beads.  Barbie has blue eyes, and her eye makeup is dramatically painted to match her exotic costume.  Her black hair is swept up in an elegant hairstyle on top of her head.

Barbie is in mint condition, and has never been removed from her excellent condition box.  She comes with a doll stand and a Certificate of Authenticity.

Barbie and her guests are seated at a pretty table drinking their tea from an adorable miniature tea set on the table, and they are using their three delightful miniature silver spoons to stir their tea.  The interior of the box portrays the dining room in Barbie's home, complete with hand-drawn images of a wooden floor covered by an oval braided floor rug, a dish cupboard, and a country view outside Barbie's window.  Barbie's friends, Li'l Bear & Cozy Bunny, are sitting together in the chair across from Barbie, and they each have their own tea cup and spoon on the table (because everyone knows bears and bunnies drink tea!).

Barbie is dressed as the hostess of her Tea Party in a cute short pink dress, with a flower pattern on the fitted bodice and a teacup and flower pattern on the flounced skirt.  Her dress is accented with a pink satin band around the collar, and a pink satin ribbon is tied around her waist and embellished with a cluster of blue rosettes.  She wears a pretty blue straw hat which has a pink satin ribbon around the brim and is embellished with a blue rosette and a pink rosette.  Her blonde hair is curled up at the ends in large curls around her shoulders.  Her eyes are blue, and she wears pink lipstick on her open mouth.  For jewelry, she is wearing a pearl necklace, pearl drop earrings, and a pearl ring on her left hand.  Her legs and feet are reclining under the table, and she is wearing pink high-heeled shoes.

The back of the box displays an image of Barbie's porch, and it says "You're cordially invited to Tea at 4 o'clock in the afternoon at the home of Barbie.  Bring your teddy bear and bunny friends."  The box also informs you about "Good Manners for a Tea Party" and "What to Serve at Your Tea".  Tea Time Barbie is in mint condition, and has never been removed from her excellent condition box.  Just think what fun your little girl (or big girl) could have while enjoying a Tea Party with Barbie and her adorable miniature tea set!
