| Isle of Man - 2005 Himalayan Cat Coin | |
| The
Himalayan Cat. This coin is
the 18th of the series, and it features a beautiful Himalayan cat and 2
Himalayan kittens on the front of the coin, and a
picture of Queen Elizabeth II on the other side of the coin.
The Himalayan Cat is one of the most popular of all Persian cats. The name comes from the color pattern found on rabbits and goats originating in the Himalayan Mountains of Asia. The Himalayan has the stocky body type, long hair, and placid temperament of the Persian, but has the pointed pattern of the Siamese. The breed started in the 1930s, when breeders wanted to blend the body type of the Persian cat with the striking colorpoint markings of the Siamese. The Himalayan is a friendly, affectionate and mischievous cat. Easygoing, gentle and friendly with humans and other pet animals, a Himalayan makes a great pet. They are extremely playful cats always in the middle of all their human's activities, and they express themselves with a wonderful melodious voice. Their quiet disposition, sweet pansy-faced expression and appealing blue eyes have make the Himalayan one of the most beloved of all pedigree cats. This coin is CuNi (Cupro Nickel) in a Brilliant Uncirculated minting, which shows amazingly fine detail on the finish of the coin. It is a large coin -- approximately 38.6 mm in diameter, which is slightly larger than the size of a United States Eisenhower dollar. |
