The Persian Cat.
One of the most popular breeds in the world, the Persian has all the feline charm -
beautiful looks, fine manners, and a loving although selective nature. Persians come
in about 50 different recognized colors and patterns, dominating the show world of pedigree
cats. This superstar of the cat kingdom is depicted in exquisitely sculpted relief
on the highly successful 1989 Cat coin. The 1989 coin is the second of the Cat series, and it has a beautiful Persian Cat on the back and a picture of Queen Elizabeth II on the front. This coin is CuNi (Cupro Nickel) in a Brilliant Uncirculated minting. The contrast in the photo at left was enhanced to show the striking coin detail. |
