The New York Alley
Cat. One of life's great survivors, the cat has adapted to the
hazards and pressures of big city life better than practically any other animal -
including man. New York's famous streetwise Alley Cats - celebrated in the popular
"Top Cat" cartoon series - are immortalized in loving detail on the reverse of
this award-winning 1990 coin. The 1990 coin is the third of the Cat series, and it has a beautiful New York Alley Cat on the back and a picture of Queen Elizabeth II on the front. This coin is CuNi (Cupro Nickel) in a Brilliant Uncirculated minting. The contrast in the photo at left was enhanced to show the striking coin detail. |
