| Isle of Man - 1998 Birman Cat Coin | |
|
The
Birman Cat. The 1998 coin is the eleventh of
the Cat series, and it has a beautiful Birman Cat on the back and a picture of Queen
Elizabeth II on the front. The
Birman Cat has what we think of as typical Siamese coloring -- a cream
colored coat with "points" of darker color on the face, ears,
feet, and tail. However, Birmans differ from Siamese in that they
have white "socks" on all four feet. Their point colors
are seal, chocolate, blue, and lilac. Their eyes are deep blue, and their
nose and paw pads are pink. They are medium to large in size, with a
stocky, long body and a broad, rounded head with prominent nose and round
eyes. They have a long, silky coat that may be slightly curly on the
stomach. Their personality is sweet-natured and intelligent, and
they enjoy the company of people and other pets.
This coin is CuNi (Cupro Nickel) in a Brilliant Uncirculated minting. The contrast in the photo at left was enhanced to show the striking coin detail. |
