| Isle of Man - 1999 British Blue Cat Coin | |
|
The
British Blue Cat. This coin is
the twelfth of the series, and it has a beautiful British Blue Cat on the back and a
picture of Queen Elizabeth II on the front. Best loved of all the British Shorthair breeds, the British Blue is strikingly beautiful with its silky blue-colored dense coat, and its glowing amber eyes. They are solidly built with muscular legs and large rounded paws. The British Shorthair was refined as a recognized breed at the close of the 19th century, having originated as a "street cat". Breeders admired their intelligence and health, and began to breed "the best". This breed is a skilled mouser and can adapt to virtually all situations, although they appear to be happiest outdoors. They make excellent family pets as they are intelligent, affectionate, calm, and easy to look after. This coin is CuNi (Cupro Nickel) in a Brilliant Uncirculated minting. The contrast in the photo at left was enhanced to show the striking coin detail. |
