In 1993, the Government of Gibraltar released centennial coins to commemorate the first appearance of Peter Rabbit. Gibraltar continued to release a Peter Rabbit coin every year until 1999, and then additional coins in 2002 and 2003. The British Virgin Islands also issued a Peter Rabbit coin in 2004, and the Isle of Man issued a Peter Rabbit coin in 2007.
The front of each coin depicts a different scene from the famous book "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" by Beatrix Potter, and the back of each coin has a picture of Queen Elizabeth II. Except where noted, these coins are made of CuNi (Cupro Nickel) in a Brilliant Uncirculated minting, which gives them amazingly fine detail on the shiny finish.
